I refer to her as "HunterBiden" Sanders, because as Hunter Biden is castigated for trying to cash in on "Daddy" - that's exactly what she has done: cash in on "Daddy" Huckabee & "Daddy" Trump. None of the experienced Arkansas legislative leadership is left from Hutchinson's tenure - Mike Huckabee had Mike Bebee as Senate Pro-tem to handle the State's business when he was governor ... there is no one for SHS and our state is going to be as poorly led & governed as Oklahoma was by Mary Fallin & Kansas by Sam Brownback. SHS & friends will try to blame the squad & AOC as the reason her governorship is so poor - "it's somebody else, not me that's bad".
The guys made an excellent point about JEB! Because of the rise of DJT, those on the anti-Trump right have had to re-examine their priors in ways that those on the left have not had two, and those on the MAGA right are probably unable to.
As a result of that re-examination, a lot of them have ended up somewhere on this spectrum:
1. Rejection of formerly held conservative views to become conventional people of the center left (e.g. Max Boot)
2. Continuing to hold most or all of their Reaganite conservative views, but accepting that for the sake of survival of democracy, is necessary to ally with the Democrats in the short term. I think this describes most of the founders of the Bulwark, although I obviously cannot speak for any of them.
3. “I am a serious person, and I will show my seriousness in this moment of crisis by writing in Edmund Burke.”
4. Trump is unacceptable, but a less Trumpy Trumpist would be good.
5. “Trump is a threat to the survival of the Constitution, but if the party nominates him in 2024, I would have no choice but to vote for him.”
In my opinion, COVID is the primary cause for inflation. Companies for years were able to find cheaper materials and labor globally for years in zero interest rate environment to keep prices low. Once the international supply chain is broken, inflation becomes a runaway train.
If establishment Republicans think DeSantis is their answer, they are dumber and crazier than I thought. It is one thing by picking someone like Brian Kemp (not a fan but at least he has a spine), but supporting authoritarian wannabe DeSantis is against everything the GWB and Jeb used to stand for.
I find it interesting that so many non-military viewers of war movies, staring actors who never served in the military, are so taken with action movies about the military and para-military, making their loins quiver.
Perhaps having been a grunt with a face full of mud makes such movies entertaining, but certainly emblematic of nothing other than making movie studios and stars making hundreds of millions of dollars from the safety of CGI.

Loved the show today. I just watched Top Gun with my kid and it totally holds up. It did take me back to a quaint time when universally Americans believed we were the good guys and the Russians were the bad guys. I still cried when Goose died. I have no intention of seeing the new one.

Unlike most of the Trump tax cuts and stimulus such as PPP, the ARP put some real money in the pockets of people that actually needed it. Those people tend to spend money on consumables and rent, and thereby may have contributed to inflation in some measure. In contrast, when money is showered on the wealthy, as Trump did over and over, those folks generally don't change their spending habits in a way that affects consumer goods. Perversely, ARP may have added something to inflation because it actually worked.
Having said that, all Western economies, including some that had much tighter fiscal policy, are experiencing similar inflation; Trump bullied Jerome Powell into leaving rates alone in 2018; Trump's tax cuts, stimulus and PPP are all being forgotten (although JVL did mention the tax cuts); and the last time gas prices were this high, it was after 7.5 years of the most pro-fossil administration in recent memory (W's interior department basically was run by Royal Dutch Shell).
